SECTION 1
AGRICULTURAL
EDUCATION
Food, crops, livestock,
soil, water, nutrition,
gardens, conservation.
Agricultural education instruction
about crop production, livestock
management, soil and water the
conservation, and various other
aspects of agriculture.
Agricultural education includes
instruction in food education,
such as nutrition. Agricultural
and food education improves the
quality of life for all people
by helping farmers increase
production, conserve resources,
and provide nutritious foods.

MAJOR
FIELDS
OF
AGRICULTURAL
EDUCATION
There are four
major fields of
agricultural education:
Elementary agriculture
Vocational agriculture
College agriculture
General education agriculture
Elementary agriculture
Elementary agriculture is taught in public
schools and deals with such subjects as how
plants and animals grow and how soil is
farmed and conserved.
Vocational agriculture
Vocational agricultural trains people for
jobs in such areas as production, marketing,
and conservation.
College agriculture
College agriculture involves training of
people to teach, conduct research, or
provide information to advance the field
of agriculture and food science in other
ways.
General education agriculture
General education agriculture informs the
public about food and agriculture.

COOPERATIVE
EXTENSION
SERVICE
The cooperative extension service,
also known as the Extension Service
USDA, is a non-formal educational
program implemented in the United
States designed to help people use
research-based knowledge to improve
their lives.
The service is provided by the state's
designated land-grant universities. In
most states the educational offerings
are in the areas of:
agriculture and food,
home and family,
the environment,
community economic development,
youth and 4-H.
The Cooperative State Research, Education,
and Extension Service, of USDA administers
funding for Smith Lever Act services in
cooperation with state and county governments
and land-grant universities.

NCCC
National Civilian
Community Corps
AmeriCorps NCCC
(National Civilian Community Corps)
is a full-time, team-based residential
program for men and women age 1824.
The mission of AmeriCorps*NCCC is to strengthen
communities and develop leaders through direct,
team-based national and community service.
In partnership with nonprofit organizations,
state and local agencies, and faith-based and
other community organizations, members complete
service projects throughout the region they are
assigned.

THE
PEACE
CORPS
The Peace Corps is an independent
United States federal agency.
to promote world peace and friendship
through a Peace Corps, which shall make
available to interested countries and
areas men and women of the United States
qualified for service abroad and willing
to serve, under conditions of hardship
if necessary, to help the peoples of such
countries and areas in meeting their needs
for trained manpower.
The program officially has three goals:
To help the people of interested countries
and areas in meeting their needs for trained
workers;
To help promote a better understanding of
Americans on the part of the peoples served;
To help promote a better understanding of
other peoples on the part of Americans.
