A home is a place of residence or refuge.
It is usually a place in which an individual
or a family can rest and be able to store
personal property.
Most modern-day households contain sanitary
facilities and a means of preparing food.
Animals have their own homes as well, either
living in the wild or in a domesticated
environment.
As an alternative to the definition of "home"
as a physical locale, home may be perceived
to have no physical definition--instead, home
may relate instead to a mental or emotional
state of refuge or comfort.
The word "home" can be used for various types
of residential community institutions in which
people can live, such as nursing homes, group
homes (orphanages for children, retirement homes
for seniors, prisons for criminals, treatment
facilities, etc.), and foster homes.

A first time home buyer grant is a grant
specifically for/targeted at those buying
their first home — perhaps a starter home.
Like other grants, the first time buyer
does not hold an obligation to repay the
grant. In this respect, it differs from

interest.
Grants can be given out by foundations
and governments. Grants to individuals
can be either scholarships or donations.
First time home buyer grants are typically
awarded based on a few criteria, primarily
financial need and income qualifications.

Emergency home repair assistance is also
known as disaster assistance, and you can
get it through grants from the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
or some charitable organizations.
You must apply for the grant money and
state why you need the help.
DISASTER
ASSISTANCE
Disaster assistance is a government or
nonprofit-provided service that allows
people to apply for aid after a natural
disaster.
These grants cover losses that insurance
companies do not cover. You may also get
an emergency repair grant if your home
is in such poor condition that you cannot
safely live in it.
FEMA
Depending on the damage to your home, FEMA
may offer you temporary housing, either
providing a new, temporary residence or
giving you money to stay somewhere.
Alternatively, FEMA will provide money for
the repair of your home. Unfortunately,
FEMA will not necessarily restore the home
to its condition before the disaster, but
it will make the home sanitary and
functional.
FEMA may also replace your home by helping
with the cost of obtaining a new home. FEMA
will only assist you if your damage exceeds
your insurance coverage and if you are in a
county that the government has declared a
disaster.

repair grants is get an estimate of
how much it will cost to fix the
damage or make the improvements.
By getting an estimate, individuals
will know which grants they need to
apply for and how many.
Most remodeling and construction
companies will assess the damage
or the work that must be done and
give a free estimate. Have it typed
up and make a few copies so that
they can be included with the grant
applications if needed.
