KWANZAA OR KWANZA
An African American celebration
commemorating various African
festivals, especially one for
the new planting season. It
lasts from December 26 to
January 1.
Kwanzaa is a Swahili word
meaning: First (Fruit)
or To begin.

PEER GROUP
Group of people of about the same age

PREJUDICE

to judge the facts fairly.
Prejudice, intolerance and
discrimination all mean
unfairness.
RACE
A major group of human being that passes
on certain physical characteristics, from one
generation to another.
Any group with similar characteristics or
ancestry.
RACIAL
Of or about race.
Of or involving races.
RACISM
A belief that a particular race,
especially your own, is superior
to other races.
Discrimation or prejudice against a
race or races based on this belief.
RACIST
Someone who believes in, support,
or practices racism.
RESPECT
High regard, honor, esteem.
To show consideration for, care for.
RITE
Solemn ceremony.
SEGREGATE
To separate people of different races by
having separate schools, restaurants,
parks, housing and culture elements.
To set apart, isolate from others.
SENEGAL

STEREOTYPE
To give a fixed or settled form to.
An over simplified conventional notion
or idea about a person, group, thought,
etc, held in common by members of one
group and which allows for no individual
judgments.
SWAHILI
Bantu language containing many of
the Arabic and other foreign words,
spoken in much of eastern Africa,
and parts of Zaire. This is used
mostly for trade.
