SECTION 2

WHITE AMERICANS

White Americans are Americans who are considered or reported as White.
The United States Census Bureau defines White people as those "having
origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or
North Africa." Like all official U.S. racial categories, "White" has
a "Not Hispanic or Latino" and a "Hispanic or Latino" component, the
latter consisting mostly of White Mexican Americans and White Cuban
Americans. The term "Caucasian" is often used interchangeably with
"White", although the terms are not synonymous.

SECTION 3

WHITE PEOPLE

White people is a racial classification specifier, used for people of
Europid ancestry, with the exact implications dependent on context.
The contemporary usage of "white people" or a "white race" as a large
group of (mainly European) populations contrasting with "black",
American Indian, "colored" or non-white originates in the 17th century.

SECTION 4

CAUCASIAN RACE

The Caucasian race (also Caucasoid or Europid is a grouping of human
beings historically regarded as a biological taxon, including some
or all of the populations of Europe, North Africa, the Horn of Africa,
Western Asia, Central Asia and South Asia. The term has been used in
biological anthropology for many people from these regions, without
regard necessarily to skin tone. First introduced in early racial
science and anthropometry, the term denoted one of the three purported
major races of humankind (Caucasoid, Mongoloid, Negroid). Many social
scientists have argued that such analyses are rooted in sociopolitical
and historical processes rather than in empirical observation. However,
Caucasoid as a biological classification remains in use in forensic
anthropology.
