SECTION 1

ANTIBACTERIAL

Antibacterial: Anything that destroys bacteria or suppresses their
growth or their ability to reproduce. Heat, chemicals such as chlorine,
and antibiotic drugs all have antibacterial properties.

Many antibacterial products for cleaning and handwashing are sold today.
Such products do not reduce the risk for symptoms of viral infectious
diseases in otherwise healthy persons. This does not preclude the
potential contribution of antibacterial products to reducing symptoms of
bacterial diseases in the home.

SECTION 2

WHAT ARE THE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
AN ANTIBACTERIAL
AND ANTIFUNGAL ?

The primary difference between antibacterial and antifungal agents is
what they target, namely bacteria or fungi. Both bacteria and fungi
are microorganisms that can cause harm to humans and other life forms,
but they’re often really different when it comes to what they’re made
of, how they reproduce and spread, and how resistant they are to
environmental changes. As such, getting rid of one or the other usually
requires a targeted and specific approach. In general, something labeled
“antibacterial” will kill some or all bacterial strains in a certain space, but will usually leave a fungus alone; similarly, an antifungal
isn’t likely to have much of an impact on problems that are caused by
bacteria. In most cases products or medications carrying either label
work in similar ways, it’s just that they are formulated to destroy
different things. The surface-level similarities can make it tempting
to use them interchangeably, but doing so can have a number of negative
consequences and won’t usually do much to solve the problem in any event.

SECTION 3

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
ANTIBACTERIAL
AND ANTIBIOTIC

Antibiotics are the chemical or physical agent produced naturally
or artificially capable of inhibiting and killing the growing
microorganisms, but antibacterial substances only work against the
bacteria and these antibacterial compounds rather killing those
harmful bacteria just help in slowing down their activities. It
will not be wrong to say that ‘all antibiotics are antibacterial,
but all antibacterial is not antibiotics.’

SECTION 4

ANTIMICROBIALS

Antimicrobial products kill or slow the spread of microorganisms.
Microorganisms include bacteria, viruses, protozoans, and fungi
such as mold and mildew.1 You may find antimicrobial products in
your home, workplace, or school.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates antimicrobial
products as pesticides, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
regulates antimicrobial products as drugs/antiseptics. As pesticides,
antimicrobial products are used on objects such as countertops, toys,
grocery carts, and hospital equipment. As antiseptics, antimicrobial
products are used to treat or prevent diseases on people, pets, and
other living things.

SECTION 5

ANTIBACTERIAL
VS
ANTIMICROBIAL,
WHAT IS
THE DIFFERENCE?

In the germ-fighting game, the No. 1 feud going today is the performance
battle between antibacterial and antimicrobial substances.

Let’s start by breaking down the primary difference between antibacterial
and antimicrobial substances. Both act upon different types of microorganisms.

Antibacterial: Destructive or inhibiting the growth of bacteria.

“an antibacterial is a chemical that specifically kills bacteria cells.”

Antimicrobial: Destructive to or inhibiting the growth of microorganisms.

an antimicrobial product is “an agent that inhibits the growth of a microorganism
or kills such an organism outright.”

While antibacterial products like soap and detergents prevent the development of
bacteria, antimicrobial agents like alcohol-based hand sanitizers prevent the
spread of bacterial, fungi, parasites and some viruses. This gives anti-microbial
products a broader scope of protection than the defense present in antibacterial
products. In essence, antimicrobials can act as both antibacterials and
antiparasitics.

HOW TO
BUILD A STRONG
IMMUNE SYSTEM
WITH HERBS

The immune system is your body’s defense against infection and disease.
It is a complex system that protects against foreign substances and
pathogenic microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

Because it shields the body from disease, it is important to maintain
the strength of your immune system. Although there is limited scientific
evidence to support it, many claim that herbal supplements can help boost
your immune system and support your body’s efforts to fight off illness.

In addition to choosing healthy lifestyle habits, herbal supplements may
aid in keeping your immune system strong.
